Ladies, Sex Drive Disappearing?
Try These Natural Libido-Boosting Remedies
Are you feeling the urge to…feel the urge? Women can experience a loss of libido, either partially or fully, for many reasons. A lowered libido could be the result of depression or anxiety, menopause, or aging. Too much stress can ruin your sexual appetite, as can chemical toxins in the air you breathe and the foods you eat.
You probably know that the chemicals estrogen and progesterone are considered female hormones. Testosterone is principally a male hormone, but men and women alike have estrogen, testosterone and progesterone, to some degree.
When these natural substances are knocked out of whack, a woman can experience emotional and physical changes. You may find yourself gaining weight without eating more, emotional highs and lows can appear out of nowhere, and it’s really frustrating to feel out of control.
Your sex drive might also drop.
Low self-esteem and previous sexual experiences that were unfulfilling may make you less than excited about having sex. If you are a lady with a lazy libido, you are far from alone. A full 43% of women report a less than healthy sex drive, according to the WebMD website.
On the positive side of that statistic is the fact that low libido can be corrected.
You can take hormonal supplements. There are plenty of “sex drive in a pill” promises made by Big Pharma. Then you have to deal with possible side-effects that play havoc with your hormones, mental state of being and physical health.
Ladies, do this instead:
The following natural, libido-boosting remedies safely and effectively crank up your sex drive (with no unhealthy side-effects). Get ready to enjoy healthy, fulfilling sex once again—woohoo!
Natural Dark Chocolate
Before you start scarfing down candy bars, chocolate cake and ice cream, consider this: natural, sugar-free dark chocolate boosts your level of dopamine. This is a “feel good” chemical that accompanies magnesium, iron, zinc and health-boosting flavonoids.
This combination helps get you in the mood! Choose organic dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa and without sugar, additives, toxins, artificial flavors and other health-harming ingredients.
The fungi that are mushrooms can add a flavor and texture boost to your meals, and they have been used for centuries to get your sex drive going.
Mushrooms are very versatile in the kitchen and can be eaten raw, baked, boiled or steamed.
Dr. Andrea Pennington is an author as well as an integrative physician. She wrote The Orgasm Prescription for Women, a recommended read if you want to get more out of sex. She recommends eating mushrooms, especially cordyceps. The cordyceps mushroom has been fixing low-sex drive problems in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for thousands of years. A 2016 study resulted in 86% of the female test subjects reporting a boost in libido after taking cordyceps supplements.
TCM has been using mushrooms to fix broken female sex drives seemingly forever. The same is true with the ashwagandha plant (sometimes called Indian ginseng) in age-old Ayurvedic practices. Taking ashwagandha improves natural energy levels, balances female hormones AND is mentioned in the Kama Sutra as a strong igniter of sex-related desire and passion.
This multi-faceted health promoter fights depression and anxiety, is a natural stress-reliever, and improves brain function. It also delivers a rush of blood flow to the clitoris and increases sexual satisfaction as well as hunger.
The maca root is considered a sex drive superfood in natural healing circles. It safely and quickly boosts your energy level, increases fertility and keeps depression and anxiety at bay. Oh yeah, maca root increases blood flow to the vagina and other sex organs—added bonus there!
Eating a plant-based diet has heaps of benefits: you lower your chance of developing diabetes and osteoporosis, obesity and some cancers, heart disease and neurological problems. It can also boost your libido.
If you are not getting at least 5 servings a day of fresh fruits and vegetables, raw and organic when possible, you can wreck your sex drive in several ways.
One way worth mentioning is by cranking up your cholesterol level. Research shows that women with high cholesterol have a real problem getting interested in sex and having an orgasm. This is because unhealthy cholesterol levels make it harder for your blood to flow, which makes it tougher to achieve an orgasm. When you can’t reach orgasm, it doesn’t exactly make you look forward to having sex in the future.
Of the five things I listed, I’m sure you can try a few, if not all, of these natural libido-boosting remedies. It’s a much better place to start than taking hormonal supplements which can wreak havoc on other areas of your well-being.
For some of us women, this is a comfortable topic to discuss, and for others there may be feelings of embarrassment or shame. Please, don’t feel the latter: you are not alone, and this is not your fault. By taking some proactive steps like the ones I mentioned, or talking about it, you are giving what you feel a voice and an opportunity to shift in the direction you’d like to see it move.
Remember, we are in this together, in a tribe of shared sisterhood.
Feeling comfortable and relaxed also plays a role in our willingness and interest in sex. If you often feel plagued by anxiety and stress, try my FREE 60 Second Stress Buster to help you chill out … so you can then bliss out 😊.
